Default matted fur

Hi peeps I have a long haired cat she doesnt like to be groomed all over and this has caused a problem with matted hair as this has occured where she needs to be brushed! she will scratch like a demon,do any of you know what I could give her to make her a bit sleepy so I could cut it off,she has already been to the vets and it cost me £70! and she didnt have that many.I need to get it off because she is quite nasty with the hair pulling on her skin and grumpy. If any of you have any sugestions I would love to hear them, thank you xxx

I had a cat whose hair used to get matted. I just used a pair of sharp round-ended scissors to cut under the matted bits gently while she was on my knee. I had to wait until she was a bit sleepy and stroked her a lot then it was fairly easy to do it. Sometimes she'd wake up and scuttle away with it half done, but I just had to wait until next time I had her on my knee to finish it off. I could only work in short bursts, and had to have the scissors to hand

I would speak with the vet about tablets with a sedative effect.

Travel sickness pills possibly an option. I know you can give a dog half a childs travel sickness pill but not sure about cats, hence why you should check with the vet

My cats hate being groomed too, thankfully their fur isn't long enough to get matts. Is the Matt somewhere where if she was restrained with a towel you would be able to get to it. I regularly wrap my little darlings in a towel to administer things.

I really don't envy you at all.
