Default Garden Birds

I've just been watching a pair of wood pigeons wandering around the garden together. Looking very much a couple!! Luckily both my cats were sleeping on the bed!
I do enjoy this time of year when the birds start nesting.
Just looked out again to see a red kite flying by. As it's quite overcast and windy here it brightens the day up to see them.
Expect some of you have a larger variety of birds depending on which part of the country you are. Plus whether you are town or country dwellers.

We were just laughing because we had seen a pair of pigeons. He was puffing himself up and bowing to her. She was taking absolutely no notice and eventually flew off.

I have a pair of blackbirds which come in to my garden and demand food. They are now gathering nest material. I think they are nesting in some shrubs which I was hoping to cut back some time this week. Oh well, maybe next month.

I also have quite a few starlings popping in, a robin, wren and sometimes bluetits. There are also a flock of house martins which fly squawking around the estate.

ylangrose sounds like the bushes will not be cut for a while!

I have a large bush that the birds love for nesting, used to have a buddelia that the butterflies love but alas that had to go for the treatment room. There are a lot of bushes for the birds still.

Manily the visitors are Mr and Mrs Starling and all their relatives...don't they have a large family! Mr and Mrs Blackbird (Mr Blackbird loves to dart out of the bush towards the fence early in the morning and early evening, seems to know when I will be watering....as then the family come out for a spash and a drink (I always make sure that I have water in the bowl for them, changed regularly).

There is a pair of blue tits and also green finches that visit regularly, in the colder months mainly see the robin, although did see it last month. We have an influx of sparrows. A couple of pigeons...they are well fattened....yesterday two partridges they visit now and then (there is open farmland nearby)

its lovely to see the birds, but I don't care for the magpies and just wish they didn't visit, the bird I really miss is the song thrush.
