Default What does this mean

I've just had results of a blood test and it said that "user need mild kidney strain" - not serious but need to have it checked in 6 months again and Dr doesn't want to see me.

But anyone idea what it means?

Hi Janet,

You should ask your GP and they will explain.

However, having said that, earlier this year I had a blood test come back with a similar result and therefore had to be retested. My GP also explained that most were coming back as failing that test, and that it was a new interpretation of the results and it would probably come back clear. The second blood test did come back clear, and I've thought nothing of it since. So if in doubt ask your GP.

Trying to get to see my Dr let alone speak with him is a nightmare - I rang up over two weeks ago and the first appt with him was 9 Dec! So opted to go see another Dr.

Does it mean that I'm going too much to the loo or not enough do you think?

I can't say, I'm not a doctor. All I know in my case it was the test and not me.

Janet, this doesn't make sense, apart from being ungrammatical. I am not aware of a medical diagnosis of "kidney strain". What does that mean? Infection? Stones? How exactly can you 'strain' your kidneys? If you can't get a doctor's appointment, phone up and ask to speak to someone (doctor or nurse) for an explanation over the phone, and if that doesn't work, make a complaint in writing.

I know - my partner said to me "how can you tell a strained kidney" from a blood test?

Well I'm going to ring up and ask him on Tuesday. Just thought someone on here may know what it meant

Just to let you know I spoke to my Dr about the kidney test and he said that last year my kidney function was 64% and this test showed it had gone down to 48% - they allow around 10% so obviously there's quite a drop in my test results. So last week I was told to have it retested in 6 months but he said no I have to have it done within 4 weeks so he said I must go just after Christmas. He said that it shows my kidneys are under strain and asked had I had diarrohea when I went for the test and I said basically no that is why I went because of the constipation and because I was so bloated.

So obviously I'm a bit concerned as to what happens if the next test comes back low.
