Default Myofascial release course

Hi, i'm looking to go on a MFR course. I've recently purchased a very good book - Fascial Release for Structural Balance and with comments on here about MFR this really has caught my attention and looks like a valuable addition to my toolbox. A 2 day course would be good to start the ball rolling, so any recommendations as there are quite a few out there and i dont want to waste my money.

I think Active Health run courses. Christian there is very good and quite passionate about the subject (I am assuming it is Christian that teaches on their course, he took the weekend we did on MfR). I am sure someone else can confirm that for you. I am not sure if they are running any courses in the near future though.

just be aware that there are some problems at present with courses booked via Susan Lincoln who has advertised MFR courses, some say she wnet bust others say the school has moved, but dont part with your money until you are sure

BGFL thanks for the heads up!! There is a course run by James Earl the author of the book i mentioned may be worth looking into. BGFL and Samn01 do you use implement MFR much with your therapies since going on the MFR courses. Have you had much success?

Thanks
Paul

HI Paul,
Yes I use MFR lots, great results. I know James Earl used to go to Susuan Lincoln, nice guy ( bit eccentric in a nice way but a good orator at seminars etc, not able to comment on his teaching as never done his course)

I am studying as a sports therapist currently so perhaps not best qualified to answer as my experience is limited to case studies.

That said I have been able to successfully perform MfR techniques on a range of clients with various postural problems with some sucess.

I did 8 days training with Tom Myers (the other author of the book) earlier this year and it was fantastic, though I wouldn't have called it an MFR course **shrug** James Earl is running the same classes in London in Oct/Nov - those seem to be a bit shorter than the ones I did, maybe to allow Tom to go off on more tangents they added a couple of extra days. Tom's an amazing presenter.

The courses I did were:
  • Anatomy Trains Myofascial Meridians (Manual)
  • Fascial Release for Structural Balance: Hip and Pelvis
  • Fascial Release for Structural Balance: Shoulders and Arms.
Very, very good material, a lot of the hands-on material did come out of the Fascial Release for Structural Balance book, but I have to say I wouldn't have really got it without the hands-on course.

The courses were so good I'm considering the much loinger KMI courses starting with KMI Structural Vision ~ Part I, it's running in Oxfordshire in Sept though Anatomy Trains is a pre-requisite. If you book and pay directly through the Anatomy Trains website you wouldn't have any concerns about the local host going bust.

Openside - thats the one i had been looking at as well. It sounds good to me, but am sure others will let me know what their opinion is of it. When are you looking at doing the course?

I have just signed up for MFR training with Ruth Duncan, at myofascialrelease.co.uk. Very excited - classes start towards the end of May. I have signed up for the Certificate in Integrated Myofascial Release Levels 1, 2 and 3, Myofascial Unwinding, Advanced Upper MFR and Advanced Lower. On top of that will be various other specialised workshops I imagine.

Has anyone been over to the States to study with John Barnes?
