Default Who do you find inspirational?

I thought it would be nice to hear who people have been inspired by in the world of Mind Therapies (Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy, NLP etc).

The people I have found inspirational are Milton Erickson, Insoo Kim Berg, David Newton, Steve de Shazer, and Michael Yapko.

I look forward to reading your posts.

Hi Lavendula,

There are many people out there who are inspirational, either because they are inspirational speakers (that's what they do) or because of the work they have put in to promoting the mind therapies practices. I've been inspired by so many it would be difficult to list, but of course there are those who we first came across when we learnt our practices who are often the ones that stick out the most e.g. Gary Craig (especially his Palace of Possibilities lectures). Conversely, and this may sound a little off-track but it's not, I've been inspired by those in the fields of quantum theory/quantum electro mechanics (QED) etc. as well as those in the fields of philosophy. I do such a lot of reading in all different fields (scientific and otherwise) and all of them work to re-enforce the model/framework of concepts for the field of mind therapies and my understanding of how they work. I guess I'm one of those people who doesn't just like to learn how to do something and then do it, I like to actually investigate and understand how it works and not just take someone's word for it. If I could list all the books I've read, then that would be my inspirational people, but I fear that the post wouldn't cope with the list as it would be too long.

I guess if I had to name a person other than Gary Craig, off the top of my head, it would probably be Dez Sellars, who is a member on these forums and also taught me (and a few others) EFT and Freeway CER. Not only were his teachings inspirational, but I've seen him at work treating a client, and to see how well these techniques can be put into practice is really a boost of inspiration in itself.

All Love and Reiki Hugs

Thanks for your reply Energylz. You're right about wanting to know how things work rather than just learning and doing it - this is also something I spend a lot of my time doing. I spend time reading about neuroscience and there are a number of people in that field who have also inspired me and formed a part of my work too.

Morty Lefkoe has helped me, my family and many friends. He is constantly searching and learning and perfecting his technique and I'm happy that he has finally achieved the success and recognition he deserves.

I know I won't be alone here in saying that the person who has inspired me most is the man who trained me - Trevor Silvester, of the Quest Institute. What I like about him is that he is always, erm, questing - determined that what he teaches and practises won't be frozen in time, unchanging forever, but will evolve as it takes in new developments and discoveries.

As far as speakers are concerned, I did enjoy hearing David Hamilton (he of The Contagious Power Of Thinking, not the radio DJ and Fulham FC matchday announcer!).

Snap - Im going to agree with you, as Trevor Silvester also trained me at the Quest Institute. I never hesitate to recommend him to others looking to train in Cognitive Hypnotherapy and NLP.

I could put so many names here, but will go for HP's very own jnani.
A weekend spent with her, drinking endless cups of tea, was worth to me as much or more than 15 years of learning, healing and inspirations from dozens of internationally renown trainers, gurus and authors. Thank you again Ruby x

I would have to say 'myself' first', seriously the answers to my problems were within, the power to do anything is also within.Jnani I want to express my gratitude to you for constantly reminding me of this fact so you have been a BIG inspiration for me..Then Carol Look and Gary Craig.
