Any recommendations would be helpful or should I re-post this on general forum under training.

Hi, if you look at the GHSC website, you will get info on accredited courses throughout the UK.

Sorry, Susie - only just seen this. I completed my initial training this summer with the Quest Institute. Brilliant training, lovely people, and a very practical course over 10 months, two days a month, that gives you a wide range of options to offer clients. I found them through a personal recommendation here. Very highly recommended by me too.

Default hypnotherapy training

Hi Susie

I too did my training with Quest over 3 years ago and can recommend them too. Trevor is brilliant.

I would also look at LCCH and BST who are very good too

Regards

Hi Susie,

You didn't mention where you are based, that would probably help with recommendations! As Charis said, look on the GHSC website but also the NCH website.

What you don't want is any kind of script based training, or anything that doesn't have any/much practical work involved. Ideally you want a school/training company that will teach you to think like a hypnotherapist and one that will also cover at least some work on marketing/setting up your hypnotherapy practice.

I started training back in June with The Clifton Practice in Bristol and I think it's a fantastic course.

Definitely go for a course with lots of practical work involved. Some courses won't let you practice on people before you're qualified which makes it quite difficult to gain experience. I've been working with people since the beginning of the course, at first just doing general relaxation, but now have moved on to working with people with specific issues.

Definitely check the NCH and GHSC. Make sure the course you choose is accredited otherwise you might find it difficult to get insured.

For your information the LCCH course a few years ago was very script based, we had to learn them almost verbatim.

Check the NCH and GHSC, a very good source of accredited courses.

Hi Susie,

I originally trained with Chrysalis 2 years ago, who also teach a very script-based approach.
I found quite quickly that I didn't enjoy working this way so after doing some research and discovering Trevor Silvester's wordweaving books I decided to retrain in Cognitive Hypnotherapy with Quest. It was one of the best decisions I've ever taken! Wonderful course, Trevor is great and the post- (and during-) course support is second to none.
From my own experience, this kind of support really makes a world of difference once you're up and running with your practice!

Good luck with whichever course you decide to go for xx

Hi All

I trained with the Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy (an NCH school) in Surrey. The 2 Pauls that run it are really great both of them are directors of the NCH so they have there fingers on the pulse. I actually met Trevor from Quest at the NCH extravaganza he seemed really nice to. The course I went on we actually worked with clients on the course so they were there to supervise if we had a problem which was really great. The course was virtually all practical there was no writing to do because everything was in the manual.

Kind regards

Tara
