Default Why is there so much negativity about Ear Candling?

I have just completed another course to add to my list of therapies to offer to my clients - Ear Candling!

I cannot believe all the negativity I am reading on the internet about them, I can hardly find anything positive, what does everyone else think?

cheers Susan

Is there? Internet is a double edged sword. If you find it beneficial to practice it, don't care what is on internet. Internet represents all people now. some in favour others against anything and everything.

I tried this once as I had such a pain in my ear and a therapist where I worked offered to 'candle' me. She told me my ears looked clear and nothing came out and my ear still hurt afterwards.

I went to my doctor who arranged for the nurse to syringe my ear and the biggest ball of wax came out and instant relief!!

So, what are the benefits of ear candling?

not a lot of doctors do the syringing anymore, personally I think that can do more harm than good, my hubbys ears have never been right since he had them syringed years ago!
As for the benefits, well, after doing the course and receiving a treatment myself which I found very relaxing and enjoyable I feel that it may have many benefits but what works for one person may not work for someone else just like any other therapy.

I'm sure you are only humouring me by asking the benefits, you only have to punch it in google to find that out!

But I do believe that the courses out there need to be rewritten has some may be giving false information, like history for a start and some do say that what's left in the end of the candle is what's come out of your ear which is not true!

I don't want to get into a debate about ear candling, it is what it is!

cheers Susan

Wonderful treatment to perform and to receive, like most therapies the benefits are noticeable by the 3rd teatment, I love it and will continue to promote it

I love it. Found it soothing and relaxing - I guess its all down to personal taste as a treatment to receive

I've been candling for a number of years, I got into it for myself really as I've got allergic rhinitis and was told that I would be on a steroid nasal spray for the rest of my life!

When I first had the candles done they didn't do very much, but I've found the more I have done the further the appointments are, and now I just have them done about 4 times a year.

Its not a cure, its a maintenance treatment, and thats where I think a lot of people get mixed ideas about it.

I go on another disucssion forum and we cannot opening discuss hopi ear candling as its classed as selling snake oil, and "apparently" banned in some countries due to an alleged death by candles.

My son loves having the candles done and I use an otoscope (for home use) to check his ears on a regular basis. He would have them done more often but its the cost of the candles that prevents me from doing them too often.
