Default Full body detox/cleanse?

Is there such a thing as a full body detox/cleanse which will detox all organs. Or is it better to do detox/cleanse 1 organ at a time, i.e. a gallbladder detox to remove any stones would be 1 detox etc etc.

I think it's called a healthy diet, regular exercise and adequate rest!

Our bodies are 'detoxing' all the time - we'd be dead if not!

If we just stop overloading them with rubbish food, manage our stress levels, get up and move regularly and sleep when we need to, we'd be 'detoxed' in no time - and will have saved a fortune not spent on questionable, but well marketed detox products.

My opinion only, of course

I agree, but what if you realise too late, and you're already in a bad state. Will a healthy life style change remove gallbladder stones for example?

I don't quite understand the concept of a detox diet to be honest. Maybe someone can explain it to me. The nearest I can get is that you are allowing all the organs to have a rest from being bombarded with the chemicals and such that we deal with on a daily basis. But how do you do that?

I visited London last week (well travelled through it on the tube) and the following 2 days were not great with my breathing. I suffer from seasonal Asthma, but the pollution of being in London for an hour gave me breathing problems for 2 days as my system dealt with the problem. I'm not a city dweller nor would I survive very long in a big city without getting very depressed, but it highlighted to me how bad for the health our modern existence is.

I think the aim is to have a healthy balanced diet, suitable amounts of exercise.I think the body is a fabulous natural detoxifyer, maybe a detox diet is simply limiting the exposure to the more toxic elements of our modern day living, not abusing alcohol, smoking, sweeteners chemicals such as pesticides and getting away from the big cities to the coast or mountains for a few days to allow our systems to be cleaned.

Is it too late? What will a detox product do that good food, fresh air, plenty of water and will not? Consulting a registered nutritionist would be a better way to go if you have real concerns, I think.

After having spoken to 2 NHS nutritionists, the answer to removing gallbladder stones is surgery... 3 of my friends have done a gallbladder cleanse and said that (i don't want to go into too much details) many stones were removed...

Hi ,

My mum has always sworn by Niacin . Vitamin B3 .

I remember reading once about L. Ron Hubbard's (founder of scientology) and he had a purification program that consisted of Niacin .

Niacin flushes toxic deposits from one's system .

Of course anyone that has taken Niacin as have I will know of the hot flush that it gives you .. Wow Wee your skin feels hot and itchy, so don't take them just before you go to work as I once did .. lol .

Make sure anyone who entertains this reads up on it first and makes sure that you have a complete B vitamin complex on the go at the same time .. .

I have been told that there are people out there having to have a drugs test they will take high doses of Vitamin B3 to get the drugs out of their system quickly.

Hi Sue ..

I think that's was part of Ron Hubbards program .

It was similar to the modern day priory clinic for those that were addicted to drugs and alcohol .. .

Although Ron's method was natural and cheap as peanuts whereas other methods are vastly expensive .. and perhaps unnatural ..

Just like many other medications unfortunately .. and yet there are cheaper, much cheaper natural alternatives available ... like the wonderful bicarbonate soda .

Oshirowanen, there is a company called blessed herbs, they do an all body detox but it is recommended that one does a colonic detox before full body detox. I sense you are looking to turn around a health situation. With right mind-set, bit of help from detox herbs and a lifestyle change should do it. Go for it!
You might try trifala each morning, very very good for your entire gastric detox( available from ayurvedic shops). It is gentle detoxifier made of Indian gooseberry, and two other herbs.
II can attest to both of the above.
Wish you all the best. May balance be restored.

Hi everyone,

Perhaps not for the casual detox-er, but for anyone interested in deep holistic cleansing: Shankh Prakshalan is one of six Hatha Yoga Kriyas
(six purification practices, used to cleanse the internal organs) and is used to purify the entire alimentary canal.

Shankh Prakshaln
involves (basically) working a saline solution through all of the nooks and crannies of the digestive system. A series of warm, salted glasses of water are drunk, after which a set series of Asanas are performed. It is pretty intense - to say the least! Takes an entire day (plus a special diet for three weeks afterwards), and should only be practiced under the guidance of a qualified yoga instructor.

Here are few links to grab your interest (hopefully):

The technique (which can vary slightly):

Master Cleansing

Shankh Prakshalana

The Shat Karmas and Hatha Yoga Kriyas

Shankhaprakshalana 'Cleaner Conchsiousness'

-------------------------------------------------------------------

And a bit more about Yoga Kriyas:

The Practice of Kriya Yoga:

Yoga reveals for us many practices of purification, which are referred to as kriyas. Many of these practices deal with purifying the physical body, many with decongesting the energetic (or pranic) body, and still others with the mental fields. There are even specific methods in kriya yoga that deal with purification on higher, psychic levels.

Modern lifestyles lead to states of health which are very polluted and contaminated — physically, energetically, mentally and emotionally. Thus, as a beginner in yoga, the necessity for cleansing is great on every level and must be undertaken in a systematic, progressive way.

There are many specific purification practices in kriya yoga, ranging from basic practices for the beginner, to more involved practice such as the shat karma kriyas (the six cleansing action), which the dedicated yogi engages in for further physical purification.

Purification is an ongoing necessity in yoga. In order to reach higher states of consciousness and to experience more readily the subtle energies within the advanced practices, we must continue to purify our physical, mental and energetic selves, which are constantly being polluted through our environment, lifestyles and daily habits. So then, kriya yoga always remains an integral part of any yoga practice.
