Default Patrick Holford's 9-Day Liver Detox

Has anybody tried Patrick Holford's 9-Day Liver Detox?

My friend has just embarked upon it and although it is only early days, she did say that buying all the stuff for it was quite expensive.

I have always been put off detoxing because the regimes that I read about seemed very draconian and the food sounded vile, but I have downloaded a copy of the plan for the 9 days from the internet and I have to say it seems perfectly do-able with food that is actually palatable.

I have not read the book so can only imagine the benefits it claims to have. Anyone been through it and, if so, what differences did you find? Did it inspire you to make any long term changes? Or was is horrible?

I haven't read this one but I do use Patrick Holford's Optimum Nutrition System and have done so for a long time now. In fact, IMO The Optimum Nutrition Bible is one of the best books on nutrition out there. He certainly knows what he is talking about and I know his ON system is really easy to do and to stick to at least most of the time.

All of his other work is easily do-able so I would assume that his liver de-tox is too.

Well I have heard good things about that book from others too, so I will see how my friend gets on and maybe try it out as a post-holiday regime to get me back into healthy eating.

She is having no trouble with it at the moment, doesn't feel hungry and is able to stick with it. Not normally the kind of thing she normally eats so is finding the actual food a bit strange.

I've not seen this book yet - need to buy it - and Holford's systems do work as they are based on biochemistry. With each person's problems being slightly different then an individual's reaction to it will be slightly different, but overall the effect should work.

Unfortunately with some 50,000 new chemicals in the environment and the seven and a half pounds of food additives it is estimated the average person consumes annually, our poor livers are struggling to cope with detoxification. Perhaps we can all do with a liver detox an a regular basis, but not to be attempted when one is feeling under par already, except under close supervision. Releasing toxins into the system can make you feel worse, but once cleared you should feel better.

I'd read Holford's book carefully first before undertaking the diet - his books are usually easy to understand.
