On the 18th April I am due to take my Level 2 Counselling skills exam.
Just wondered if anyone as took this, and if so could you let me know what it was like, what questions were asked etc? How did you find and could you offer any useful tips etc.
Most of the results for counselling comes from course work, what you have done in practice and theory.
if you remember what you did you have answered your own question.
i am nearing the end of the first year diploma in counselling. and as i say i have never had an exam as such, you are monitered in your practice to make sure you know what you are doing, and with the theory written work it counts as either a pass or failure.
Thanks for replying, we have done a lot of course work over the last few month, I am a little annoyed as the college cut the course short by 5 weeks so our tutor can tutor another set of people, so it feels we have had to cram a lot in.
How's the diploma going? Can you tell me what it is like, what is involved, it's still a couple of years away for me yet, but I would like to know what is involved in this one.
The course is very intense. and a lot of people fall by the wayside before they get half way through.
i enjoy it but im only doing it to get the certificate to say that i have qualified, as its something i have done all my life,
there are a lot of jobs for counsellors as there is a short fall of them in britain, you will begin to discover which direction you want to go in, when you get to the diploma i keep changing my mind, Cognitive Behaviour Humanistic, Person Centred etc,
you will have a bit of written work yet,but my advice to you would be if you enjoy it and are empathetic. you will have the answers to your question, from within yourself.
Wow, now I am really looking forward to it. Written work doesn't bother me at all, in fact I actually really like it, sad huh! lol
We haven't done anything on Cognitive Behaviour Humanistic or Person Centred therapy yet, I believe that comes in level 3(?) I just need to pass this exam and hopefully I'll be on the way.
I guess in a strange way that it is good that there is not enough counsellors in GB at the mo, at least that way when we're qualified they'll be some jobs for us.
Well the exam was just awful, there was a question on there that we hadn't done in class and all the questions had a long winded theme to it, you had to read it many times to try and get the important part from it. Also terms and expressions were used in the questions that weren't really needed and you really did have to deciper what the question was asking you.
We only need 50% to pass but it was a struggle. I'm so glad it was over, all the rest of the students thought the same too.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you ~ when will you know the result. I start a 12 week introductory course in counselling tonight, in order for me to start the Certificate in September!!! Feeling a little nervous.
hi i just had my level 2 counselling exam last night and boy what a nightmare . one question we had not even covered and the rest it was more a matter of your opinion because it is how you look at a situation. so pleased it is done unless i have to resit[]tutor is going to talk with the examing body but that is no good for us on my course.
Hi Angel, congratulation on getting your exam out of the way, I am due to take my Level 2 Counselling skills exam in two weeks time. Could you please tell me more about the exam, what questions were asked.., and especially what was the question you hadn't cover in class? Thanks
