Default Skype landline telephone numbers

Hello everyone,

I obtained a landline Skype number for my clients to contact me on, as not being office based I don't have a dedicated landline number just for my business.

Giving out the home landline number thought wouldn't be ideal as other people can answer the phone and it could seem unprofessional so I bought the Skype landline number instead.

Having had it a few months im getting feedback then I'm missing quite a few calls &/or it doesn't even go to voicemail so I can get back to clients.

Not everyone is comfortable in leaving messages or phoning mobile numbers, has anyone found any other ways of dealing with this?

Thanks in advance,

Shelly

Hi Sally,

That sounds like a very easy way to do things, thanks for the info!
I cant seem to find the company that you mean, are they online or you buy it in a store? I tried googling ukphones ect but couldn't seem to find the relevant info?

Thank you

Default Another option?

Some years ago I had a second phone number on my BT landline. It had a different ring tone, so you knew which number was being called. As with any other landline, you can also use call diversion to divert it to a mobile if you want to. I don't know if this is still available, but it might be easier than having a totally separate contract with someone else.

Like Steve I also have second number on my BT landline with a different ring tone. I also have a seperate Pay As You Go mobile phone that I use for business purposes. The land line has a different ring tone so if you had this option you could ask the members of the household to either take the call but saying your business name or to leave it to go to answer machine. You'll always have people that are not comfortable leaving messages. If I get a missed call on my business mobile I always call the person back.

We use SIPGATE - this allowed us to get a local number which we can point at a mobile, or our landline (well, anywhere really). It works pretty well, you can even run a SIPGATE app on your smartphone which only rings when people are calling your business number - let's you keep business and personal separate.
