Default Puffy eyes, instant remedy please??

Hia Folks
From time to time I get mild exzema (spelling?) and for a few weeks I have felt itchy around the back of my neck. I have lived with it since it's hidden by hair and not too much of an issue. At least it moved from the front of my neck which just LOOKED awful. Red, blotchy, itchy. And now it's back on front of my neck! Grrrr

My eyes are terribly puffy this morning and I want a QUICK remedy to cure them I love to wear make up, and have to admit to trying a few new things lately which probably havent helped So no make up this morning and I LOOK horrendous!!!

I need a decent moisturiser for my neck that doesnt aggravate it, to try and prevent it looking old before my face... which is looking OLD OLD OLD this morning!
Help!

The best cure I know for puffy eyes is to get two cotton wool pads, soak them with Witch Hazel and lay them across the eyes for ten minutes.

A very quick one that I haven't tried is apparently to put two dessert spoons in the freezer for a few minutes and then lay down and rest the bowl of the spoon against your eyes for a few minutes but I must say its not something I have ever tried.

Good luck - and a day without make-up to allow your eyes a rest isn't a disaster!

Hi Alison,

My remedy for puffy eyes is a used teabag (cold) on each for 10 mins a day. I put 2 teabags in the fridge to cool overnight and my wife uses them on her eyes the next day.

The best eczema friendly moisturiser I know is Aveeno, Which you can buy over the counter or get on perscription.

HTH,
Myarka.

It has been found that milk/dairy intolerance is often at the root of eczema. It is certainly worth trying a couple of weeks dairy-free and see if anything changes.

The other thing that can be a problem in eczema is lack of essential oils - that is fats that we must eat because the body cannot make them, and they are essential to every cell in the body. These are the omega-3 and omega-6 oils. an easy way to take them is to supplement something like EyeQ available from the supermarket, and you'll probably need a couple of teaspoons daily, so get the liquid form.

Let us know what helps!

All the best

Hi Alison, poor you - I know how you feel.

I used to get eczema all over my body - however I avoid cow's milk to which I am allergic, and I take probiotics. So, probiotics are something else you could consider, as there is a fair bit of research showing that they reduce the inflammatory respond (i.e. the itch) of eczema.

Something else which is helpful is evening primrose oil (EPO) capsules. You can apply an EPO capsule directly onto eczema sites. Buy 500mg or 1000mg capsules of EPO and prick one with a pin. Squeeze the oil directly onto the eczema, and gently rub it in. You may find that your skin 'drinks' it and absorbs the whole lot - if so, repeat it until it seems to no longer be absorbed. Be sure to buy evening primrose oil because it contains GLA which is deficient in folk with IgG allergies (i.e. atopic eczema and asthma). Oddly borage oil (starflower oil) contains more GLA but doesn't seem to be as effective treating eczema. Applying it via the skin also means that it is absorbed into the bloodstream. When your eczema is particularly bad you may wish to also apply the contents of EPO capsules onto the areas of thin skin - inner thighs, forearms, belly - where it is better absorbed.

Let us know how you go, and I hope you feel better soon.

Thanx Folks, for your kind replies.

Luckily I dont get this very often.

I am keeping off the make up today (at least til later)

I have been given some "bio oil" and also some witch hazel. The witch hazel seems to be calming my puffy eyes.

Hi
Organic Apple cider vinegar, if applied overnight on the effeted parts should give long term relief for eczema .(it smells, but it works) It worked on my son and is excellent for skin.
For puffed eyes, Splash on closed eyes warm water with 1-2 teaspoon table salt per pint. Hope it helps

Went to the Doctors + he gave me some hydrocortisone cream to apply thinly twice a day for 5 days.

I noticed the difference after the first day, mostly because it was a good moisturiser for my eye area.

Though after the 5 days is up, I need to find a gentle moisturiser to stop my eyes flaring up again!!

DO NOT USE Bio Oil around your eye area. This is good for stretchmarks, blemishes etc.... not for the delicate skin around your eyes!

you could try using drop of witch hazel and eggwhites, if that does not go then go for hotwater mixed with teaspoon of salt apply them in the puff area of your eyes

I get puffy eyes only when I have eaten something inappropriate.
If I want puffy eyes, then I just eat gluten or yeast!

Allergies are a result of adrenal gland dysfunction not outputting enough anti-histamine epinephrine and other immuno-modulating corticosteroids.

Building up your adrenal glands is the key to get rid of allergies, i used to have multiple food and chemical sensitivities, so much so that my face used to be puffy pretty much constantly.

Adaptogenic herbs are good for building up the adrenal glands such as ashwagandha, schizandra berry, maca root, jiaogulan, licorice root, siberian ginseng etc.

Vitamin C and Vitamin B5 are also the most needed nutrients by the adrenal glands.
