Good Morning Zhouzh I do have a question about acupuncture and animals. I have a collie, she is rescued and she has been with us just over a year. We are uncertain about her background but were told she was kept on a short rope, with very little freedom, if any
Bella is lovely and very attached to me, where I go she follows lol, bless her. Anyway, I am wondering about Acupuncture for fear of loud noises as in Fireworks. I have tried different things such as Rescue remedy, anxiety drops, calming drops and most recently bought a calming collar. However none of this seems to be helping her and I'm now wondering about acupuncture?

I have just recently had acupuncture and was impressed with there case history questions etc. However i didnt feel it was very spiritual....? alittle..? i just felt something was missing?

Is it exspensive to learn?

Hi,

well it depends what you mean by 'spiritual'. Chinese medicine deals, for example, deals with emotional stuff too but they are seen as another manifestation of qi and therefore not given any more importance than the physical complaints. But the patient's emotional well-being is always kept in mind.

I am not sure what was missing... a have an idea but at the moment I don't have the right words to use and it might come out in a very wrong way...so I am going to leave it.

It is also worth being in mind that Chinese medicine is and was a medicine...people used it to get better soon and go back to intense labour work... it was never born as something 'spiritual'. This doesn't mind that it was not more or less explicitly addressing emotional issues too, but it is a very pragmatic medicine.

It is expensive to learn it... degree fees.

Hi there, I am looking into finding a good acupuncturist in the South Harrow, Middlesex area. Anyone know of any good one, my friend is suffering with a clicking jaw, back, neck and headaches. She is constantly on medication.

So please let me know if anyone knows someone who is good but in the Harrow, Middlesex are.

Hi, I think there are different kinds of acupuncture to be experienced, Chinese (TCM) acupunctute is a fairly modern adaptation springing primarily from Maoist China and as Mao was not too spiritual himself he influenced the removal of much of what could be called the spiritual part. Outside of China, classical forms of acupuncture still flourish, in the UK you can find stems and branches which takes into account the time of someones birth as part of the diagnostic framework and five element acupuncture which works on finding a persons constitutional type and treating them accordingly, there are also various Japanese and Korean Systems.

One principle of classical acupuncture is that there is heaven and there is earth, between the two is the space in-between, called the Ling Zhi. This is where we live, (in the mundane) we have the potential to move either way but our health is determined by how we live in this space and how we maintain a connection between the two.
