Scientific studies have found that various aspects of our personality and life are affected by colour. The general outlook and overall health is influenced to some degree by colour, but especially our attitude and mood.
The colours that people choose at any one time are dependent upon what they'd like to do, according to experts. Colour therapy works by simply choosing colours with an understanding of which colours produce what kind of emotions. For this reason, colour is especially effective for dealing with conditions such as seasonal affective disorder.
The colour blue has been found to reduce heart rate, blood pressure and respiration. Perhaps this is the reason why it is associated with relaxation, calm and a general feeling of peace. If someone finds it difficult to relax, then blue would be the best colour to be surrounded by. In tests it was found to relieve pain that comes with ulcers, rheumatism, chronic back issues and inflammatory disorders as well as help insomniacs get some sleep.
The colour green is known to sooth and is used by colour therapists to alleviate anxiety and depression as well as nervous exhaustion and heart problems.
Because violet is known to reduce appetite it is useful for helping people to lose weight.
As one would expect the colour red is connected to excitement and so it is helpful for stimulating activity in the brain and raising the heart rate. It has been used to deal with anaemia, hypotension and infections in the bladder.
One of the great things about colour therapy is that there are no known side effects. It can be 'administered' with just coloured lights that are controlled for producing just the right colour.
